The Mouthpiece Throat Radius

The term throat radius is used on the site to describe the area between the side walls or shoulder of a mouthpiece cup and the throat. It is shown on the diagram below, along with the two limiting conditions available in the PeakTone model. Changing this feature will not show up as a large physical change, such as when you change a cup’s diameter or depth but such changes as are available here make a considerable difference to the sound output of the mouthpiece/instrument combination.
