Description: A set of papyri discovered at Oxyrhynchus in Egypt dating from Roman Ptolomaic times, around the 3rd century BCE. They describe objects from the Temple, among these being hieratiki salpingai chalkai or sacred bronze salpinges. The Oxyrhynchus Papyri are currently housed in institutions all over the world. A substantial number are housed in the Sackler Library at Oxford University.
